As my first blog, I would like to review my car :D
Product: Mercedes 2006 CLS 500
Overall Rating: 4/5
Value: $$$ / $$$$$
I bought this car back in january, for $49,990 with 21,510 miles on it. When this car first came out in 2004 at the NYC auto show, I immediately fell in love with its sleek lines and unique front end. With most of its insides coming from the E-Class, the car has so far proved problem free as far as engine matters go, since most of the components have been heavily tested when the E-Class was introduced.
The car came with all the standard goodies and the following additions:
Parktronic parking assistance (Lifesaver)
Wood Steering Wheel
Heated - Ventilated Seats
Electronic Trunk Closer
Comand Navigation
Bi-Xenon Headlights with Auto Clean Function
Speed Sensitive Power Steering
I have found that so far there are several key issues that need to mentioned if you are considering this car or really any Mercedes-Benz:
[-ve's] Negatives
[Squeaky Breaks]- Most larger Mercedes vehicles are infamous for having squeaky breaks when coming to a stop at slow speeds, in fact there was a service campaign for some CLS vehicles where the break pads had to be replaced due to the level of sound they made.
[Comand Navigation]- The car's navigation works beautifully when it does work, however about a couple weeks ago the head unit needed to be replaced due to an internal fault. This was done under warranty, so I can't complain, but I need to take the car back as now the unit is having difficulty reading its map CD.
<+ve's> Positives
I do not at all regret paying nearly $50,000 for this beauty, the comfort and status this car gives is worth the price (someone said I was driving James Bond's car, when he saw the in dash CD changer). I would just recommend that if you are in the market that you ensure the car was serviced at a mercedes dealer to help avoid problem vehicles.
